Standard eddy-current thread presence/absence probe
QuikApps - Thread Profile Sensor
A system integrator needed an eddy-current probe with high sensitivity and a small field to measure the profile of a threaded hole.
Existing eddy-current probes used large coils with large fields for detecting only presence/absence of threads in a hole. As a result, they had very little sensitivity to individual threads.
Lion Precision designed the Q3B probe with a small (3mm), radially mounted coil. The small coil creates a small spot size. The small spot size has higher sensitivity to the individual threads.

Q3B Thread Scanning probe
The probe is placed in the hole and scans the side as it enters or exits. The probe can be rotated and repositioned to read at any radial location. The probe uses an ECL100 Driver.
The sensor's output is processed by the integrator's proprietary computer software to analyze the thread profile.
